Hydrocarbon resin is a thermoplastic synthetic resin produced from selected hydrocarbon feedstocks. It is widely used as a performance-enhancing ingredient because of its excellent tack, adhesion, compatibility, and water resistance.
Hydrocarbon resins are commonly incorporated into hot-melt adhesives, pressure-sensitive adhesives, rubber compounds, paints, coatings, printing inks, and road-marking materials. They can improve bonding strength, tackiness, gloss, flexibility, and overall formulation performance.
Different grades are available according to softening point, colour, molecular structure, and compatibility requirements. Their ability to blend with polymers, elastomers, oils, and other formulation components makes them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.
